Royal Display teaches you how to distinguish OLED, led and LCD screens

Some use OLED screen, some use LED screen, and some are LCD screen. What's the difference between these?

OLEDOrganic Light-Emitting Diodescreeen

OLEDs are organic light-emitting diodes. When current is applied, these organic materials will emit light by themselves, which eliminates the backlight, makes the screen lighter and thinner, has a larger viewing angle, and greatly reduces power consumption.

OLED screen not only has good luminous rate and can display pure black, but also the screen can be bent, which also makes folding mobile phones have further development. The liquid structure of OLED screen can ensure the anti-aging performance of the screen.

LED

Led sounds much more familiar. Yes, it is the light-emitting diode we know. LED display screen is composed of light-emitting diode dot matrix module or unit. A single pixel is composed of three or more light-emitting diodes, and its color is composed of red light, blue light and green light. Naturally, it can't display more bright colors like OLED screen.

LCDLiquid Crystal Display

LCD is the liquid crystal display. When it works, it needs to be illuminated by the backlight, and the white light produces different colors through the color filter. The light passing rate of the control pixel is controlled according to the passing current, so that the pixel presents different colors. Because LEDs need backlight, they are naturally not as thin as OLEDs, and it is difficult to be flexible as OLEDs.

Nowadays, the advantages of OLED screen are becoming more and more prominent, and occupy the market of almost high-end mobile phones.
