What is the reason for the Caterpillar problem of LED display?

May 25, 2021

The change of LED display from static control mode to scanning control mode is due to the improvement of lamp brightness and driver chip technology. Scanning control mode simplifies the control circuit and reduces the generation of heat, but at the same time, it also causes the secondary harm of caterpillar twinning.

"Caterpillar" phenomenon refers to the appearance of a long bright bar on the screen of the display screen, and the length of the bright bar is determined by the number of scans of the display screen. When the number of scans is n, the light bar is a line of light beads composed of n points, and the light bar does not change with the change of the picture. The bright bar is different from the spurious distribution of blind spot. The bright bar is too concentrated, so any bright bar in the unit display area is very attractive.

The main causes of "caterpillars" are as follows:

1. The binding force of lamp bead package is insufficient

2. Chip cutting accuracy is insufficient

3. Humid environment

4. Insufficient internal dispensing control in LED packaging production
